About Shana

I love collaborating with my clients to create the looks that will make them feel the most confident and fabulous. 

My early formal education was studying metalsmithing and art through a fine art program. After many years working in the design world I went back to school to study skin care, cosmetic ingredients and formulation production. Through that program I fell in love with applying makeup and styling hair, and thanks to my first makeup job working on feature film (which I should mention was a horror film written and directed by a drag queen!), my eyes were open to the creative possibilities in the world of makeup and hair. I now divide my time between the one-on-one services I provide doing makeup and hair, with working on a variety of creative projects including my Fox & Doll beauty products, my silver and gold jewelry line and a few other creative and crafty projects that may result in some new items coming to my online shop soon!

A bit more about me:

• San Francisco resident for over 20 years

• Palm Springs is my home away from home, I love to visit for work and vacation whenever I can

• Born and raised in the mountains of New Hampshire and went to art school in Portland, Maine

• July is birthday month, astrological sign is Cancer; a classic loyal, sensitive, water loving crab

• Dog lover - grew up with lots of them including Bichon Frises (my favorites), Dalmatians, and West Highland White Terriers

• I love clothing, shoes, interior design and all things mid-century

I can't recommend Shana's wedding hair/makeup services highly enough!  She is a rockstar. This was the first time I'd ever worked with a hair and makeup artist before, so I wasn't sure what to expect and was initially at a bit of a loss when it came to explaining what I wanted (or even figuring out what I wanted!).  At Shana's request I put together a Pinterest board with some examples of looks I liked, and she did an amazing job honing in on exactly what it was about those styles that I wanted for myself.  The trial was amazing -- she totally nailed everything, and even did each eye in a slightly different way so I could choose what I liked better.  Furthermore, she's warm, calm, and a total pro.  I left the trial appointment completely at ease, knowing I was in good hands. The end result was exactly what I had hoped for: I looked like myself, only better!  And considering how anxious and sleep-deprived I was that day (ugh bridal nerves), that was no small feat.
